Dr. Andrew Cowan

Andrew Cowan, MD, is an assistant professor of medicine at the University of Washington and has a joint affiliation with the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. His clinical and research focus is on multiple myeloma and other plasma cell disorders. He first became interested in plasma cell disorders through a 1-year fellowship in amyloidosis at the Boston University Amyloid Center, in Boston, MA. He completed a hematology-oncology fellowship at the UW/FHCRC in 2015 and has been a faculty member since then. Dr. Cowan’s focus is in clinical research, and he is currently responsible for running several clinical trials, including a phase 1 study of BCMA chimeric antigen receptor T cells in combination with a gamma-secretase inhibitor for relapsed multiple myeloma, in addition to several other exciting studies.
